About Me

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my blog! My name is Lauryn Davis and I am so happy you are here! Here is a little bit about me:

I am a dedicated and results-driven professional with a background deeply rooted in education. In 2021, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education from Kennesaw State University a foundation that ignited my passion for shaping young minds during their crucial formative years.

Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Learning and Technology online at Arizona State University, driven by my belief in the transformative power of technology in education. This academic pursuit aligns with my professional experiences, especially in my role as a Quality Assurance Assistant at Legacy Academy Corporate. In this position, I collaborated directly with the president to ensure the maintenance of quality educational standards and NAEYC accreditation across 15 Legacy Academy schools. Effective communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to policy implementation were key facets of my responsibilities.

My journey also includes a fulfilling tenure as a Kindergarten Teacher at Georgia Cyber Academy in Atlanta, GA. Teaching in an online virtual environment for a diverse group of 25 kindergarten students, I employed various educational apps and technologies to provide an enriching learning experience. Daily communication with families was a priority, ensuring a supportive online learning environment and fostering a sense of value for this mode of education.

My commitment to hands-on teaching is showcased through my Yearlong Clinical Experience at Dunleith Elementary School, where I taught all content areas for kindergarten students, including those in an all-ESOL cluster. Innovative lessons, such as hands-on activities and SMART board games, were integral to my teaching methodology.

Moreover, my Initial Field Experience at Discovery Point allowed me to contribute to the daily care and learning of children aged 6–3 years, emphasizing developmental milestones through the GELDS early learning standards.

As I continue to navigate the dynamic field of education, my goal is to integrate technology seamlessly into the learning experience. This aligns with my current academic pursuits and underscores my dedication to enhancing education through innovation.

The Impact and Reflection on Different Learning Theories

Learning theories are some of the very best ways that learning designers can help students stay engaged. However, depending on the exact learning theory that you decide to use, this can impact the way you go about setting up lessons for students. Today I am reflecting on the different learning theories that I was able to determine by going through each of my design projects and going over the learning theory and what worked well and what didn't for each project. Module 1: Gamification For my first assignment, I got to explore gamification. "Gamification is the incorporation of elements of game design in a classroom setting" (Erikson, 2020). Gamification is a fun way to use games to motivate students by using games, storytelling, freedom to fail and choose, rapid feedback, and progression to keep students engaged.    I incorporated elements of storytelling to take the employees at SparkyWave Solutions on a journey to Camp SparkyWave. Employees selected a learning path a...
